Embedding Videos

Georgia Southern uses YouTube to host and stream videos.  Official videos are posted to the University’s YouTube channel. You can also upload your own videos to YouTube to share on your website.

How to Embed a Video on a Page

To add a video to a page on your website, just copy the YouTube video URL and paste into the page editor (in the Visual tab).  WordPress will automatically embed the video and show you a preview in your page editor.

If you want to customize the size of the video, just open the video link in YouTube and click the “Share” option, then “Embed” and then “Show More” to see the custom size options.  Copy the embed code into the page editor in Text mode. Note that your video’s width  should not exceed the width of the page content area.  Preview your changes to see how the video will look on your page and adjust the size as needed.

How to Embed a Video to a Sidebar or Home Bottom Widget

To add videos to the sidebar or bottom widget area of any theme, just copy the URL into a content block (Visual tab), then add the content block to your preferred area in Appearance –> Widgets. Videos added to the sidebar or home bottom widget areas will automatically resize to fit.
