Updating the Department Theme Header Image

If your site is utilizing the Department theme, you have the ability to change your header image. It is your choice whether you would rather have one header image across all pages or have the header change randomly every time a user goes to a new page. Follow the steps below to update your header image.

      1. Navigate to the “Customize” page; there are three ways to navigate to this page.
        1. Select “Customize” from the top bar while viewing a page on your site
        2. While in the dashboard view, go to Appearance ➝ Customize
        3. While in the dashboard view, go to Appearance ➝ Header
      2. Now click “Header Image”

      3. To upload a new header image, click “Add new image”

On this screen you can see the current header being used in the left sidebar under “Current header.” If you are using the randomized headers option you will not see a current header selected but the “Randomize uploaded header” button will be highlighted blue and you can see the headers you are currently randomizing between above the button.

      4. Upload or select the image you want to use from the media library pop up. Select “Select and Crop”.
      5. You can now crop the image to best be displayed in your header. Click and drag the box to select the best cropping. Select “Crop Image” when you’re satisfied.NEVER skip cropping. Skipping cropping will make your image distorted.
      6. You will now see an example of what your site will look like with the new banner. If you’re happy with what you see, click the blue “Publish” button at the top of the page. If you want to randomize your headers, click the “Randomize uploaded headers” then click the “Publish” button.
